How to apply for CSS Exam
CSS written exam is generally held in February every year.
The application process begins with the advertisement of MPT (MCQ-Based Preliminary Test), generally in August every year. MPT (MCQ-Based Preliminary Test) is a compulsory screening test to shortlist candidates for the CSS written exam. Only candidates who have qualified the MPT are eligible to appear in the CSS written exam.
After the declaration of the MPT result, another advertisement for the CSS written exam is published, generally in December every year.
The important dates for CSS 2026 are as follows:
- MPT advertisement date: 10 August 2025
- Application period for MPT: 10 – 25 August 2025
- CSS Written Exam advertisement date: 7 December 2025
- Application period for CSS Written Exam: 7 – 22 December 2025
- CSS Written Exam date: 4 February 2026

Important Things to Remember
- Please keep the bank receipt/challan form saved with you, as you will be required to present it at the Exam Center at the time of appearing in the MPT. Moreover, you must also bring your original CNIC to the exam hall. Without these entry requirements, candidates shall not be allowed to appear in the MPT.
- Pay attention to correctly input information while filling out the online application for MPT and the Written Exam, as the application, once submitted, cannot be changed. A wrongly filled application leads to rejection. However, if there is a minor mistake in detail in the online application for the Written Exam, it is advised to correct it on the hard copy (before sending it via post) with a pen and put your signature there, rather than sending a hard copy with incorrect information.
- Sometimes candidates may process the online application without submitting it; therefore, the application may not be saved and submitted properly. Pay attention to all the instructions and buttons while processing the online application.
- Candidates must apply online by the closing date of application and dispatch the hard copy (where required) to reach the office of FPSC on or before the closing date.
- If a candidate applies for age relaxation (i.e., 2 years allowed as per rules), they shall be required to provide the certificate issued by the concerned authorities, as required by FPSC and specified on their official website.
